ANSARA HISTORY

The history of the establishment of the Association of Former Students MRSM Malaysia (ANSARA) starting from the idea Dato ‘Jamaludin Abdul Hamid (former Deputy Director General of MARA) while attending the General Meeting of the Association of Graduate Students MRSM Seremban (PLM Seremban). He suggested that all students graduate college under the auspices of the alumni association. He believes that only through association, college graduates will be able to contribute to the nation they serve more effectively.

Dated 14th February 1993 has seen nearly 1,000 college students from various college graduates gathered at Auditorium MARA, MARA Building (Lama) to realize the formation ANSARA. The ceremony was officiated by YB Dato ‘Dr Mohd Yusof Noor.

Moving onwards, ANSARA has applied to register the association officially and has received approval from the Registrar of Societies on 14th December 1993. First General Meeting ANSARA, at the time was in the name of the Joint Graduate Student Association MRSM Malaysia, was held on 15th May 1994.

Nine (9) PLM has agreed to join and under ANSARA as members. These associations are PLM Seremban, Kota Bharu, Kuantan, Penang, Kuala Trengganu, Muar, Jasin, Berseri and Balik Pulau.

In 1999, the Central Committee ANSARA has agreed to change the format of association by no longer using PLM as a member of the ANSARA. Therefore, the terms ‘Joint’ is no longer suitable for use. Instead, ANSARA will be composed of all former students while PLM functions taken over by the Branches. It is proposed that the full name of the Joint Graduate Student Association Malaysia MRSMN converted to Former Students Association of Malaysia and retain college ANSARA use of acronyms.

On 17 September 1999, ANSARA Central Committee sent a letter of application to change the name and constitution ANSARA and they have been approved by the Registrar of Societies on 17th August 2000 through their letter dated 6 September 2000.

Concurrent with the agreement, ten branches were registered as branches in ANSARA. The branches are ANSARA Seremban, ANSARA Kota Bharu, Kuantan ANSARA (Kuatagh), ANSARA Kulim, ANSARA Muar, ANSARA Jasin, ANSARA Berseri (Anser), ANSARA Balik Pulau, ANSARA Taiping and Kuala Berang ANSARA.

Until now, ANSARA have fourteen (14) branches registered after ANSARA Shade was founded in 2003, followed by ANSARA Mayor (2004), ANSARA PDRM Kulim (2005) and ANSARA Gerik (2007). As for former students who do not have registered branches, their expertise acquired by ANSARA Center and maintained by the Secretariat ANSARA.

It is our hope that more ANSARA former college students come forward to register as members and more branches ANSARA will be established.
